OK Darcie, Now what??

I've purchased 6, 100% wool sweaters at a local thrift shop and I am now ready to... I am not sure what you had in mind, but I am ready to get started whenever you are ready to give me a little direction! Well, yeah, I realize that it is 3 days until Xmas but I was thinking that a little creative diversion would allay any panic that I feel bubbling up. Sort of a denial type thing, but I figured it would be a lot more fun to ignore the obvious, I'm hopelessly behind, and felt wool- never done that, than face reality in all it's cold hard splendor. Aren't the sweaters pretty? I paid about $1.79 for each of them- the patterned one I paid a whoping $3.50. Won't they make pretty... see? Here's where I need some help!

they'll all make wonderful felt! What are you planning to do with the felt?

I see so many great felted items these days - from small bags, to hats, to felted "patchwork" couch throws (that cost a small fortune, might I add!). Ohhhh, the possibilities!

Cheers!

Oops - meant to add - helps to felt if you throw a pair or 2 of blue jeans in the washer - and don't ever throw in a white towel or any towel or else you will get towel lint all intertwined in the "felt" (ask me how I know this!).

Cheers!

Pretty nifty... can't wait to see what you make of them! One lady from my guild made a pair of slippers, twice as big as she needed, then shrunk them down to her size... luxurious, thick felted slippers. Made me jealous!

Oh, I tried to respond to your comment on my blog, but YOUR e-mail is no-reply ... lol

You stinker, you!!! Now I know what I want to do in the middle of my confusion-of-where-to-go-and-what-to-do-first...felt something!!! Do I have to do some research first though?

What I was initially thinking was to use either the neckline or the waistline for the top (opening) of the purse. Cut to size, of course (allowing for shrinkage). And then, seam up the sides and bottom of the purse shape. Cut the sleeves for handles?

Do you think anybody will help us felted newbies out here?!?!

Happy Friday!!! Hugs to you!

Yours are very charming, I forgot to say. Are those little felted flowers on that one's neckline? Can't wait to see what you (we?) do!!!

Those sweaters are great, girlfriend! And you and Darcy just need to go ahead and wash them in hot water, then dry them. THEN Darcie's idea of making purses is an excellent idea!!! Can I borrow that idea too, Darcie? LOL They are also wonderful to use as applique. Cut your templates from freezer paper, iron on your wool, cut out and blanket stitch on to your background. To save my wool I generally use flannel for my background pieces. :D Go for it, girl!
