Supposin' I should post...

I've been in a funk, lately. Just enduring the dreary weather- which has been wonderfully warm- 60* in February- whoda thunk? But it is rainy and dark- see? a flip side to the warmth. This little batic baby needs his borders put on, but I have been...well, funky. So no borders, yet. That's OK. I need to find a batik for a larger outerborder- the rest was from my stash- love using up stash, don't you? Not bad, only needing to buy an outer border. Sandy sent me home with lots of batik FQ and between the two of us, I had plenty. This is another quilt from Evelyn Sloppy's 40 Quick Cut Quilts. Of course, hers wasn't batik. Instead of sewing the borders on, I'm quilting the Thimbleberry Village that I made for my Mom. The poor dear. I have just been playing all around on that quilt- who knows how it will turn out? There are so many different elements- that means different places to doodle- that it is irresistable. So I am just experimenting on the different blocks. Could have done an all-over-rover... but decided to play around, instead. That's the beauty of quilting for your Mom- she thinks its all good. And who am I to argue with Mom? Hope everyone is having a fun week!

Oh I just love batiks. What a cute top. Can't wait to see how you do the borders.

Your quilting for mom is beautiful.

I don't remember seeing a batik creation from you before...this is really a beauty. I really don't have any batiks. My old calico/80's/dated stash is really diminishing and I've been adding newer fabrics as I see things I love. And I'm with you 100% on feeling no guilt. I'm enjoying every moment playing with my projects. I know the winter will be over before long and my focus will shift to the garden and the wonderful weather of Spring and the quilts will lanquish while I enjoy other things. I love seeing your indoor projects and look forward to the warm weather projects, too!

Wow! If I had a daughter playing around on my quilt like that, I would be pretty happy with it, too!

Beautiful, Nines!!! I really need to get over my fear of free-motion quilting and just give it a try! Seeing what people, like you, can do inspires and yet intimidates me at the same time. :~)

Oh my heavens!!! Your Mom will be ecstatic! No wonder she gives you freedom to do your thing. (Can I be your Mom-for-a-day?!) ;-)

The batik baby is darling too. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the borders and the quilting on that one.

Happy Valentine's Day, sweet girlfriend!!! Bushels of hugs to ya!
