That time of year, again...
I try to make the graduating(from college) seniors a quilt for their graduation party. I usually only have one a year. I think I have 3 this year- need to get moving on it. These are two that I have done in the past and I like this pattern because it is the fastest thing, ever. I got the pattern in an old Fons and Porter magazine. Need to get the fabs- batiks work best because there are big pieces and it still gives it motion and interest. They sew up in an evening and quilt up fast, too.
My Mom and sisters, Steph and Lisa, are here for a few days- no sewing, just a lot of talking and playing and laughing. When they leave it will be time for me to hit the sewing machine, hard. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have been doing a little paper piecing while my hands are behaving. Worked on one block and somehow managed to cut off the points of a couple of triangles in the center so I imagine I will have an extra block to do...I will never be satisfied with that one. Can't work too long at a time...but do what I can.

Great pattern. Yes, there IS motion to it. It's nice to have something you can "do up" in a jiffy.

I made a couple quilts in that pattern using Wizard of Oz fabrics which turned out *very* cute! Hope everyone's getting better from the seasonal "ick"!

I've used that pattern for graduation quilts before!

Hi, I've read your blog for quite a while now, and really enjoy it. I'm just really quiet. LOL

Your children are delightful and you make the most gorgeous quilts!

I'm a novice quilter, and I have a question. I just saw your quilt tonight. I've looked in every Fons and Porter book I have. In the spring 2008 issue of "Easy Quilts," pg 38, there is a pattern called One Block Star - is this the pattern you used? It appears the only difference in yours and theirs is the center block (yours is solid) and the two outside borders. You have a solid one, then the HST's on the outside. They only have one border of HST's. Their quilt is 60"x72."

Keep up the good work!
