156 quilt blocks on the floor...

156 blocks, ya take one down and pass it around, 155 blocks on the floor!

Shew! I just finished all of my blocks for a king-sized yellow brick road. The blocks are very simple, but the quantity is vast. Then I got to thinking... "a dangerous pastime, I know." (ala Beauty and the Beast.) And of course, this doesn't occur to me until I am finished with the blocks. But I told DH that I wanted to downsize from a king-sized bed to a queen the next time we purchase a mattress. I hate groping around in the middle of the night... let me rephrase that... I hate not being able to reach him when I need...er... when I want... uh... the bed is just too big! I feel like we need seperate time zones! And when both of us are relatively small people, it just doesn't seem to be an efficient use of space. And I am nothing if not practical. Back to the quilt blocks. Figure I can make the queen-size quilt and use the extra blocks as Sarah does for a baby quilt or two. Do you think the fabric is too bright and not baby-ish enough?

Nina - it is wonderful! I think the extras would make a wonderful baby quilt! I can't wait to see it done!

You must by young yet! My husband and I have gotten old and complain the other snores too much and too loud! :) And I'm doing the pre-meno thing so I'm too hot to get anywhere close to him! Ahhhh youth!

I think the extras would be great for a baby quilt, but I tend to make less "traditional" baby quilts... I'll often use a more traditional baby fabric on the back to make up for it!

Too much about groping in one email - but then again what else would I expect from you and Bill! I love the quilt blocks - but they look a bit traditional for you! Good luck with the bleach resist class.

Miss you!

Sarah

I think the leftovers will make a great cheerful baby quilt. The kind sized bed is good for those years when the kids pile in on Sat morning. Jen

"too bright?" Is that even possible?

I had a friend tell me that he thought the king sized bed was the demise of the American marriage. I hadn't really thought about it until then, but all those married couples got along just fine in double beds until king sized beds arrived on the scene. I do agree with you. They are unnecessarily large. Wes sleeps in the middle anyway until one of my hot flashes hits, then the bed is too small!

Do think that Bill and Wes might be related? I laughed my head off over the snoozing picture on your blog- Bill does that, too. And Bill also sleeps in the middle of the bed so what would be the point of having a big bed when he crowds me to the edge, anyway!? The king size bed is nice for movie night or when all the kiddos want some snuggle time.

Oh, and Deb, Hope those hot flashes pass quickly for you! One of my dear friends lights up like a Xmas candle every few minutes. Must be a real bummer. I can hardly wait-NOT!

I think your fabric would be just fine for a baby quilt from the leftovers..great job on hanging in there on soooo many blocks!
