Xmas quilt #1, done.

I finished the quilt for my friend- who has three cats. Judy would be pleased as it is all fabric from my stash with a few contributions from someone else's. I haven't been out of the house in four days, so I decided to just make do with what I had. The backing was a bit shy so I just filled in with some of the wonky house leftovers. Funny thing about the wonky houses... took me a couple tries to get it right as I was trying to figure out how to elongate them to be the same size as the cat blocks. Finally got it right, I think. The houses were made from little leftover bits from my friend Tanya's stash. Even the binding is made from three different fabrics. Gives a whole different meaning to scrap quilt. The batting was even leftovers. Reminds me of Thanksgiving dinner! Lots of leftovers. The quilt is flannel front and back, so I hope it isn't too warm for the Pacific Northwest. Can't wait until Sarah gets back from her travels so that she can tease me about it being way too traditional for me. But it isn't for me, it's for my friend Kelli. I can be traditional if I want to be. Ok, I am sooooo over it. Where's my batiks?

It's really a great quilt Nines, even if you don't like some of the fabrics..you pulled out all the stops and went for it. I love everything about it. Those cats are just too much !! And hurray for the wonky houses on the back too...it's the old front door vs. back door...right?

I often bind just like you did on this one. Depending on how I'm feeling and what the quilt is about. It's very liberating.

It's darling, Nines! It makes me laugh. I love what you did with the back and trust me, flannel front and back will not be too warm for the Pacific Northwest. It gets cold here, too :)

Your friend's quilt is terrific, Nines! And the back? It is way cool!!! ;-) I love it!

Your quilting shows up so well in your pics...and gives the quilt so much personality and movement.

I meant to comment a long time ago when you shared a pic.... Your floors are gorgeous!!! To die for!!!

Any pie left???

Great quilt Nines, your friend will love it! Quilts I make for friends are often not my style at all, but as quilters all know, it's about the giving.

BTW, thanks for visiting over on my blog. I would have sent you an email, but couldn't find an address.

I see you had a pretty busy Thanksgiving. Those pies look mighty tasty! Jen

*LOL* I'm laughing so hard at the "I'm over it, gimme my batiks" statement! TOO FUNNY! Your friend is going to love it.....it's a darling quilt, and I love how you made due with what you had...wish you were closer, you could come have some of mine...I'm feeling paralyzed by too much fabric over here...really, it is too much of a good thing!
